With the ultimate objective of decreasing the number of unrestrained passenger vehicle occupant fatalities in traffic crashes by 2029, the Occupant Protection Task Team (OPTT) emphasizes public awareness initiatives, law enforcement collaboration, and data analysis to ensure the safety of all vehicle occupants on Georgia roads. We are also reviewing the results of the 2024 OP Assessment to address recommendations. Countermeasures include car seat inspection stations, communications and outreach with high-visibility enforcement, and supporting enforcement of child seat laws by training technicians and law enforcement in child passenger safety.
Current Projects: The first meeting of the OPTT will be on July 2, after which we will assign tasks and actions items.
Upcoming Meetings: Beginning July 2, we will meet on the first Wednesday of every month
