September 18-24 is National Child Passenger Safety Week. The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Georgia Department of Public Health and our partners will be holding free seat checks around the state during the week. More information will be posted soon. CPS Week gives parents/ guardians a chance to learn more about child passenger safety and adequate car seats for a range of children.

Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children. On average, two children under 13 were killed and an estimated 374 were injured every day in 2019 while riding in cars, SUVs, pickups, and vans.
- 608 child passenger vehicle occupants died in traffic crashes in 2019.
