GOHS along with Channel 2 WSB-TV teamed up with The Oprah Winfrey Show to take a stand against distracted driving. On Friday, April 30, Holly Robinson Peete joined Channel 2 Action News anchor Fred Blankenship for a live viewing rally of Oprah’s first national “No Phone Zone Day”. The program continued Ms. Winfrey’s effort to educate and activate Americans to end deadly driving habits. The rally was held at Georgia Tech’s Ferst Center for the Arts and brought together local college students, victims’ families, advocacy organizations and law enforcement to drive home the best ways to limit distracted driving in Georgia communities.

The Oprah Winfrey Show used the viewing rally as one of five remote locations for the show across the county. Ms. Winfrey showcased the Atlanta gathering as part of the national program by taking a live feed from the Ferst location during her telecast.

Although it is being recorded live in Chicago, the show airs in Atlanta on Channel 2 WSB-TV Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.

Oprah urges drivers to sign a pledge to make their car a “No Phone Zone”.
