
TALIAFERRO COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES HONORED FOR ROLE IN OPERATION ZERO TOLERANCE The Taliaferro County Sheriff's Department was honored today by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for its leadership in the statewide effort called Operation Zero Tolerance to crack-down on impaired driving in Georgia. Operation Zero Tolerance is part of the national You Drink & Drive. You Lose program. The Taliaferro Sheriff's Department issued a total of 186 citations during Operation Zero Tolerance, including: Seat belt violations: 7 DUI: 6 Drug arrests: 7 Speeding: 134 On a statewide basis, Georgia law enforcement officers from the GOHS regional traffic enforcement networks wrote 5703 seat belt tickets, 974 child restraint violations and 29,890 speeding citations during the impaired driving enforcement and education campaign in the last quarter.
