Occupant Restraint
NEW FOR OCTOBER 2009: The Survey Research Center, University of Georgia, on behalf of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and the University of Georgia Department of Health Promotion and Behavior, conducted an observational survey of safety belt use during June 2009, and an observational survey of child safety seat use during September 2009. The findings from this study are presented in this volume.

According to the 2007 occupant protection survey from the Survey Research Center, University of Georgia, overall adult seat belt use in Georgia was 89.0%, up from 73.6% in 1998.

Half of Georgia’s 1,308 motor vehicle occupant fatalities were unrestrained in 2006. This statistic has changed little since 2000.
