THE GOVERNOR’S SHSP TASK TEAM SUMMIT 2 [12.17.09]

Georgia’s comprehensive highway safety plan incorporates existing professional safety plans along with emerging new efforts. The Governor’s SHSP Task Teams members represent education, engineering, enforcement, and emergency medical services. These members work in public and private organizations to collectively reduce Georgia highway crashes and fatalities. The Summit 2 invites current and new SHSP safety professionals to “Revive, Strive, and Stay Alive.” Updated highway safety data informed participants of the progress and needed efforts to continuously reduce Georgia highway crashes.

The kick off SHSP Task Team Summit was held in 2006, Georgia’s SHSP launch year. The Governor’s SHSP is a nationally recognized model. Professionals renewed multi-professional highway safety synergies and launch new directives, learn, communicate, and collaborate in the fields of: transportation engineering, traffic enforcement, public information and education, trauma/EMS, academia, safety data systems, injury prevention, metropolitan planning, policy development, multi-modal transit, and others. The Governor’s SHSP systematically develops data driven efforts in 10 key emphasis areas and 14 corresponding Task Teams. Each Task Team recruits and maintains representatives in the four safety E’s, safety data analysts, and all interested safety partners.
