
2012 Bibb County Nighthawks On April 3, 2012, the Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) in coordination with the Georgia State Patrol announced the formation of the Bibb County/Macon Nighthawks unit. Funded by a grant from GOHS, the Nighthawks were first formed in October 2004 to reduced impaired driving crashes by concentrating on the apprehension of DUI offenders during peak hours. The Bibb County/Macon Nighthawks will include six troopers total. Troopers assigned to the Nighthawks (North and South) arrested 6,146 people for driving under the influence in the four-year period from 2008 through the end of 2011.
