Intern(s) will work in the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS), under the direction of the Director of Planning and Programs or the Director of Public Relations and Education, 15-30 hours per week (hours can be adjusted as needed). The duration of the internship is contingent upon the completion of assigned projects and/or graduation.
The intern will assist the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety with administrative support, research and analysis regarding grantee issues and program development. The intern will interact with state, federal, county and local agencies, Georgia constituents and local authorities as well as GOHS staff; perform independent research, attend public meetings and report back to the division director. Professional and educational development including:
• Introduction to state government and management;
• Exposure to the State of Georgia’s highway safety program development
and operations; and
• Experience with GOHS and its initiatives.
• Student must be currently pursuing a degree in Public Health, Public
Administration, Communications, Journalism, Political Science, Public
Policy, Law or a closely related field.
• Student must have a 2.8 GPA or higher.
• He/she must be a Georgia resident or attending a Georgia college,
university; or law school. (Graduate and Law students are strongly encouraged
to apply.)
• Strong computer, writing and communication skills are necessary for
successful completion of duties.
GOHS may cover the cost of 3 credit hours payable to the college or
university per semester or may provide a stipend based on classification.
