SPEEDERS BEWARE! THE HEAT IS ON GA-316

As the “100 Days of Summer HEAT” campaign comes to an end, the Georgia State Patrol and law enforcement from three counties coordinated patrols from Gwinnett, through Barrow & Oconee Counties, all the way to Athens, Georgia.

Why? Because public safety officers and safe drivers throughout the route say speed is running out of control on GA-316, making it “Another North Georgia Autobahn.” As part of Operation Zero Tolerance, police sent DUI-violators to jail and wrote tickets to turn up the HEAT on summer speeders.

The Director of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety joined MADD, local law enforcement, public officials & highway safety advocates for a “ 316-Task Force” media event overlooking GA-Hwy 316. The group met at the CBP Industries parking lot at the intersection of GA Hwy 316 and Craft Rd in Statum, Georgia.

Waves of enforcement patrols on 316 followed to hammer home the message. The GOHS “316-Task Force”. It’s not about writing tickets. It’s about saving lives.
