General
Safe Driving Tips:
HOW
SAFE IS YOUR DRIVING?
Attention
commuters: Want to make your drive shorter?
Add a second. That’s right, add a second. Adding
another second between you and the car in front of you
can help you avoid a crash. Maintaining a safe following
distance will cost you two to four seconds, but a crash at
the very least could cost you hours. Make safe driving
your business.
How
well do you know the driver in the car next to you?
Do you trust him with your life? Don’t assume that all
drivers make the right decision every time. It is estimated
that every two minutes the typical driver makes 400
observations, 40 decisions, and one mistake while
driving. Don’t wait for that mistake to include you.
Expect bad decisions by other drivers and steer clear of
them. Make safe driving your business.
No
one’s looking. No one will ever know. I’ll do it just
this one time. Do these excuses sound familiar? Every
day we encounter temptations on the roadways. Making
the illegal U-turn, ignoring the no turn on red sign, rolling
through a stop sign. You may not have hurt anyone, but
what’s your excuse when you do? Stop making excuses
and use good judgment. Just because you can doesn’t
mean you should. Make safe driving your business.
On
those days when traffic is at its worst, we all wish we
could have our own personal traffic reporter, who can
guide us through traffic and divert us away from crashrelated
congestion. Stop dreaming and get your
personalized traffic report by looking ahead for changing
traffic conditions. Make safe driving your business.
Multitasking
is a great to way to boost your resume or
impress your boss. But it’s not so great in the car while
you’re driving. Distracted drivers are less likely to
recognize potential hazards in the road and they react more
slowly to traffic conditions. These inattentive motorists are
also more likely to become involved in a rear-end collision
or single-vehicle crash. Impress your boss by getting to
work safely. Stay alert and focused on the task at hand—
driving. No one is crash proof. Make safe driving your
business.
