Free Sober Rides Across Georgia This Holiday Season

For St. Patrick's Day, the Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) in Georgia wants to make sure that you arrive alive from your party in 2012.

To help keep Georgia safe, GOHS has created with safety partners across the state a list of contacts for sober rides to make sure that you and your friends and family get home safely this season.

For St. Patrick's Day, GOHS has created both an Android and Apple iPhone application which allows Georgians to have mobile access to organizations around the state providing free rides home for those who are impaired by alcohol. Whether you are an individual who needs a ride, a party host needing a ride for a guest, a bar or restaurant needing rides for customers, these apps will help you through the process.

UPDATE: A NEW VERSION OF THE APP IS NOW AVAILABLE ON THE ANDROID MARKET WHICH SHOULD ALLEVIATE ANY PREVIOUS COMPATIBILITY ISSUES ON OLDER ANDROID MODELS. IN ADDITION, THE NEWEST APP SHOULD BE SMALLER AND MORE COMPACT FOR YOUR NEEDS.

Why you need the free ride--Zero Tolerance in Georgia

Sober Ride Georgia is part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled OverĀ  program to keep drunk drivers off the roads of Georgia.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over is Georgia's high visibility enforcement program that targets impaired drivers through concentrated patrols and sobriety checkpoints. Police officers, sheriffs deputies and state troopers will work together to protect everyone from impaired drivers during this busy time of the year. The Georgia program is part of the national campaign to eliminate drunk drivers.
