| ATLANTA FIRE DEPARTMENT CHILD SAFETY SEAT CHECK: MARCH 23, 2005 The Atlanta Fire Department recently certified 20 brand new Child Passenger Safety Technicians. These technicians are new recruits that recently completed their training at the Atlanta Fire Academy as well as NHTSA’s thirty-two hour standardized Child Passenger Safety Technician Course. At the conclusion of that course, on March 23, 2005, the Atlanta Fire Department held a child safety seat check event at the Kroger Supermarket located on Metropolitan Parkway in Southwest Atlanta. This event was well received; over 200 seats were checked and over 100 unsafe or recalled seats were removed from the roadway. The parents in the community were educated on child passenger safety and hundreds of children left that check event safer than they arrived. Now these newly certified recruits will take these installation and education skills with them as they take up their new posts throughout the City of Atlanta. If you are in need of assistance with a child safety seat, please contact any Atlanta Fire Station to set up an appointment with the technician on duty. They will be happy to check your seat, discuss all aspects of installation and answer any questions you may have. Click on each photograph below for a larger image. |
