Bicycle & Pedestrian Grantees in Georgia
Explore GOHS-funded programs that promote bicycle and pedestrian safety around the state of Georgia.

The Athens-Clarke County (A-CC) Safe Communities Team was formed in mid-2011. The team includes professionals from law enforcement, public information, and traffic engineering divisions within the government. Team partners are from A-CC government, Clarke County schools, UGA, and the city of Winterville.
The Team developed the "No Kidding! Pay Attention in a School Zone" campaign. The A-CC public information officer funded and produced the PSA using local children, concerned volunteers, A-CC traffic engineering staff and an A-CC police officer. The PSA has been shared with the all Clarke County schools and airs on the A-CC Charter TV Channel. A Governor's Office of Highway Safety grant seeks to expand the campaign and have the PSA aired on more visible TV channels and other high-visibility venues.
With this grant, more campaign blitzes are planned. The team plans to identify other safety concerns and apply similar countermeasures working in tandem with several agencies under the principle that more can be accomplished through cooperation than through single action.

The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition's mission is to create a healthier, more sustainable Atlanta by making it safer, easier and more attractive to bicycle for fun, fitness, and transportation.

Safe Communities of DeKalb has a wide-ranging focus that addresses pedestrian safety, road redesign, driver behavior and data collection and analysis. Two of the primary focus areas of Safe Communities are pedestrian and child passenger safety.
