GEICO sponsors Centerville's Safety Efforts....

GEICO INSURANCE DONATES $20,000
TO CENTERVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT
TO HELP TRAFFIC SAFETY
GOHS Praises Public/Private Initiative

On Tuesday, April 6th, the GEICO Insurance Company awarded $20,000 to the City of Centerville Police Department to help aid traffic safety both in Centerville as well as throughout middle Georgia. The money will be used to purchase a pick-up truck to help transport Centerville's and the Middle Georgia Traffic Enforcement Network's BAT-Mobile (Blood Alcohol Testing Mobile).

The BAT-Mobiles previously employed by the Centerville Police Department and the Middle Georgia Traffic Enforcement Network have proven to be so effective and so popular that larger units have been needed. With the increased size of the newest BAT-Mobile, the need for a larger truck to haul the unit was magnified.

"GEICO's generosity in providing this donation will go a long way towards increasing traffic safety in middle Georgia" said GOHS Director Bob Dallas. "The BAT-mobile program has proven effective in reducing the number of drunk drivers on the roads and educating the public on the dangers of drinking and driving. It is through these public/private initiatives which will maximize the total resources for future safety activities. Both GEICO and Centerville should be congratulated for their vision and dedication to public safety."

Founded in 1936, GEICO Car Insurance takes pride in being one of the nation's fastest growing auto insurance agencies. GEICO is equally proud of the work they do outside their office walls. Part of GEICO's corporate mission is to encourage active, involved citizenship.

GEICO also takes a leading role among auto insurers in the safety areana. GEICO works with national and local organizations to promote efforts to improve highway safety and reduce traffic injuries and deaths.

GOHS WISHES TO THANK BOTH GEICO AND THE CENTERVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT AGAIN FOR THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX TO IMPROVE TRAFFIC SAFETY IN MIDDLE GEORGIA.
