Tattnall County High School was recently recognized by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety as having the largest SADD Chapter in Georgia and one of the largest in the entire United States. Over a third of the entire school (312 students out of approximately 900) is involved with the SADD Chapter. In addition, the Tattnall County High School has added 20 Honorary Members as part of the Pre-K program to get kids thinking at an early age about the importance of making good decisions in life.

The growth of the Tattnall County High School SADD Chapter has been phenomenal. In the last three years, Tattnall SADD has gone from:
2006-2007: 73 Members
2007-2008: 193 Members
2008-2009: 312 Members
GOHS would like to thank Tattnall County for helping to make SADD one of the premier student organizations in the state and the country. Through their educational and volunteer activities, Tattnall County SADD has helped to save lives and change the direction of many in their community. Changing attitudes begin with small efforts growing into large movements and Tattnall County High School is proof of the positive nature of such efforts.

For more than 20 years, SADD has been committed to empowering young people to lead education and prevention initiatives within their schools and communities. Founded as Students Against Driving Drunk in 1981 in Wayland, Massachusetts, SADD has grown to become the nation’s dominant peer-to-peer youth prevention organization with thousands of chapters in high schools. In 1997, in response to request from SADD students themselves, SADD expanded its mission and name, and now sponsors chapters called Students Against Destructive Decisions. SADD continues to endorse a firm “no use” message related to use of alcohol and other drugs. With its expanded focus, SADD now highlights prevention of all destructive behaviors and attitudes that are harmful to young people, including underage drinking, substance abuse impaired driving, violence and suicide.
