GOHS HOSTS SAFETY CONSCIOUS PLANNING FORUM

The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS), the Georgia Department of Transportation (GA-DOT), the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), and the Federal Highway Administration will host this two-day forum for improving the way safety is integrated as a key-planning factor in all of Georgia’s transportation plans and programs.

 

Representatives from state and local planning agencies will attend, including City of Atlanta, MARTA, ARC, Cherokee, Cobb, Fulton, Henry, Newton, and Rockdale Counties, Rome-Floyd MPO, GA Regional Transportation Authority, GA DOT, Federal Highway Administration, and GOHS.

GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY POLICE: KEEPING ATLANTA SAFE FOR STUDENTS AND CITIZENS ALIKE

On Thursday, January 27th, the Governor's Office of Highway Safety presented the Georgia State University Police Department with the Click It or Ticket Excellence Award for their activity during the latest traffic safety mobibilization.  GOHS Director Bob Dallas was on hand to present the award at Woodruff Park in downtown Atlanta.

"The Georgia State University Police Department should be proud of the hard work and dedication that they have shown in keeping the streets around downtown Atlanta safe." Dallas said. "Students and the general citizenry know that when they see at GSU patrol vehicle that all will be well when walking from one place to another.  It is an asset to the city and I am proud to present this award."

The Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC) is pleased to announce a call for communities and states to apply for the Safe Routes to School (SR2S) National Course. This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to develop sound SR2S programs based on community needs and conditions, best practices and responsible use of resources. The course concludes with participants developing an action plan.


Deadlines: Applications for spring courses accepted through February 11, 2005


Applications for fall courses accepted through May 1, 2005
